Improved Guidance in Recruit to Hire Workflow
To help prevent common errors in the hiring process, updated help text has been added to the "Ready for Hire: Submit Personal and Govt. ID Documents" step within the Recruit to Hire workflow, which appears as “Change Government Identifiers” in the hire’s inbox.
*NEW* Job Aid for New Hires
In anticipation of fall hiring, we have developed a new job aid aimed at new hires: Onboarding Steps in Workday. This comprehensive guide is intended to help new hires complete their onboarding tasks in Workday.
Update on UID Workday Integration
A recent enhancement was made in Workday to identify and resolve UID issues earlier in the Hire business process. This is to help eliminate 6 digit UIDs from being created and to increase efficiency with new hires being able to activate their directory ID and login to Workday.

Now Available: FY26 Salary Details Report
We are pleased to inform you that we have a report available in Workday with a preview of the upcoming automatic FY26 Salary load details for COLA/Merit/Longevity-Retention. Changes to the employee’s HCM compensation record in Workday are scheduled to be uploaded July 15, 2025 following the opening of pay period 2.

Entering correct and complete Costing Allocations is a critical component to ensuring employee salaries and benefits are charged to the appropriate worktags and funding sources.
Important Guidance for New Hire Home Addresses
During the ad hoc hiring process, Workday will allow HR Analysts to enter either a Home Address or a Work Address for the prehire. However, if a work address is entered and a home address is not, it will cause a delay for payroll. Additionally, entering a home address is a state of Maryland CPB requirement. This impacts hires who are not coming through the regular recruitment process such as Search waivers, PTK faculty, and C1s.
Additional Step for Bargaining Acting Positions at UMCP and UMES
Due to updates agreed upon in the most recent MOU, Bargaining Acting positions receive an acting allowance effective 21 days after the employee is working in the position.
