ERP Work Requests
What is an ERP Work Request?
Work Requests can range widely in scope, and include activities that are essential to keeping Workday aligned with the evolving needs of the university.
Examples of ERP Work Requests include:
- Collaborating with central offices and departments on production support and university life cycle activities, i.e., COLA/Merit, Seasonal Hiring, Year-End Close, etc.
- Adding steps to current business processes
- Adding fields to existing reports
- Introducing updates to system functionalities that enable employees to perform their regular job responsibilities
- Completing items previously deferred during Go Live
Submitting Work Requests
While most Work Requests requests will come from central business units (e.g., UHR, Finance, Procurement), other key roles—such as CBOs, DBOs, HR Partners, and Analysts—are also encouraged to submit work requests.
Ultimately, any user can submit a work request just by clicking on the button below.
How Are Work Requests Prioritized?
ERP Services considers the following when prioritizing Work Requests:
- Business impact: How broadly or critically the request affects users
- Effort required: Simpler items may be implemented sooner
- Complexity & collaboration: work involving multiple teams may need coordination time
- University calendar: Bi-annual release updates, and urgent tickets may take priority
Currently, HCM and Finance ERP Services teams manage prioritization. This includes initiating a Change Control case when modifications to business processes impact the Workday production environment in ways that exceed the capabilities of a standard end user and require elevated permissions. As the process evolves, ERP Services plans to formalize prioritization—including executive input—to help manage the growing list of requests.
